Scott said he was keenly aware of the show before he auditioned.
"I knew Degrassi dealt with some very serious problems teens have. It's basically one giant anti-bullying campaign. I was really, really proud to be part of this show," Scott said.
Scott said he and his character have some similarities.
"We both have a lot of fun in school," Scott said. "He's just always positive. Me as a person, as Dante, I always try and stay positive."
The entire cast has just be revealed and the show will debut in January on the Family Channel.

Scott said he didn't expect to be acting professionally so early on in life.
"I thought I'd learn my craft, learn acting and go out and land a big role later in life," he said.
