Cyclist struck and killed by SUV in Chatham

A young cyclist has lost his life after being struck by an SUV in the Chatham area.

A young cyclist has lost his life after being struck by an SUV in the Chatham area.

Chatham-Kent police say the incident unfolded just after 7 p.m. Wednesday on Bloomfield Road, between Riverview Line and Richmond Street.

Police say an 18-year-old Chatham man was on his bike when he was struck by a southbound GMC Acadia.

The cyclist was rushed to hospital, where police say he succumbed to his injuries.

The SUV driver was not hurt.

The collision remains under investigation.

Const. Renee Cowell said police are hoping to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision.
