Water pipes have to be ripped up in Walkerton
The town of Walkerton is facing another hurdle as it tries to restore safe drinking water.
More than three kilometres of old pipe now have to be ripped up because they're difficult to clean. Crews are disinfecting the water pipes as they get rid of the e-coli bacteria which killed several people in May.
The Liberal Environment Critic, Jim Bradley, says the state of Walkerton's water system is bound to raise questions across the province. He says the Harris government should spend the money to replace aging water mains throughout Ontario.
