Walkerton farmer denies newspaper report
A Walkerton farmer Friday denied a newspaper report that suggested his cows were the source of the town's e-coli contamination almost three months ago. Six people died after drinking town water.
Health Canada is investigating a well adjacent to Veterinarian Dr. David Biesenthal's field in Walkerton. He refused to talk to most reporters Friday, but he did speak to CBC Radio.
"We were certainly not the only farm samples were taken from. There were samples taken from other farms in the vicinity," Biesenthal said.
He added, "there have been no results released on my farm or any other local farm."
"I haven't seen any technical reports that have said that the well was contaminated," Walkerton Mayor David Thomson said.
Thomson said he expects to see test results in a month.
