Woman struck, killed by Brampton Transit bus in Rexdale
A woman in her 20s is dead after she was struck and pinned beneath a Brampton Transit bus in Rexdale early Monday.
It happened just before 6 a.m. at the intersection of Finch Avenue West and Humberline Drive.
Firefighters jacked up the bus to free the woman. She was pronounced dead on the scene.
The bus was travelling south on Humberline Drive and turning left on Finch when the woman was hit. Witnesses say it was dark and rainy at the time.
The eastbound lane of Finch will be closed for much of the morning while police investigate.
Reporting from the scene on Monday morning, CBC's Linda Ward said police want to speak to passengers who were on the bus because many had left the area before being interviewed by police.
"Police are asking any of those witnesses to come forward to help them put together the full picture of what happened here," she reported.
