Union-Pearson airport train service resumes after morning fire
Fire started beneath UPX train as it left Pearson platform this morning
Union-Pearson Express trains are running again after a morning fire halted service this morning just before 7 a.m.
The minor fire happened beneath the train as it departed the platform at Pearson this morning.
Metrolinx spokesperson Anne-Marie Aikins told CBC News the fire was "very small" and quickly extinguished by crews. Passengers were safely evacuated from the train. Mississauga Fire attended the scene and are investigating.
"There were no injuries," said Aikins. "And no one was affected by smoke."
The trains returned to service just before 9 a.m.
Full service between our Union and Pearson stations has now resumed. We thank you for your patience.—@UPexpress
