Toronto rapper Tory Lanez arrested in Florida, faces gun, drug charges
Brampton, Ont., hip-hop artist Tory Lanez is facing gun and drug possession charges after he was pulled over while driving a Rolls Royce in Florida on Wednesday.
Lanez, 24, also known as Daystar Peterson, was arrested by Miramar police in Broward County.
He was charged with carrying a concealed firearm, possession of cannabis 20 grams or less, failure to register a motor vehicle, driving without a valid driver's license and failure to show proof of liability insurance.
A complaint affidavit filed by local police says he was arrested without incident and taken to Broward County main jail.
Lanez's is an up-and-coming Canadian hip-hop artist. His album I Told You debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 last year.
He was scheduled to perform at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto on May 16.
