Torso found floating beneath Niagara Falls identified
More body parts discovered beneath falls
Police have identified the woman whose torso was found floating in the Niagara River on Aug. 29 and announced the discovery of more body parts at the same location.
Erie County police confirmed Friday the remains found last week belong to Loretta Jo Gates, 30, of Niagara Falls, N.Y.
Police say Gates was last seen on Aug. 25 and was reported missing by her family on Sept. 4. Her death is being investigated as a homicide.
Police also announced Friday that a "partial arm and leg" were recovered in the whirlpool rapids area of the lower Niagara River on Thursday afternoon.
Gates has three children aged four, five and 11.
The body parts have been sent to the pathology unit of Hamilton General Hospital for examination.
It's not known whether the body parts are linked to the Gates case.
