Toronto's Wesley Annan lands Stanford football scholarship
290-pound defensive tackle first spotted while playing with Scarborough Thunder
Toronto-area teen Wesley Annan got one step closer to his dream of playing in the NFL this week when he signed a full, four-year scholarship to Stanford University, home of one of the best football programs in the U.S.
It was one of more than 20 schools fighting for the 290-pound defensive tackle, who was first noticed while playing with the Scarborough Thunder.
Signing the scholarship was a proud moment for Annan and his family
"A lot of people were, like, 'Wesley, don't cry' — because they know me, I bust a tear every now and then," Annan told CBC News.
