Teen victim sought help at bus stop after altercation
Toronto police say a teenager asked for help at a bus stop on Monday afternoon, shortly after he was either slashed or stabbed in the neck during an altercation.
Police say a 17-year-old male approached a woman at the corner of Albion Road and Elmhurst Drive, telling her that he had been in a fight. The teen asked her to call for help.
The call came into police at approximately 4:20 p.m.
Det. Kevin Sedore told CBC News that the teenager's condition has been upgraded from life-threatening to serious since being taken to hospital for treatment.
Sedore said police needed to consult with medical personnel to determine the specific injuries to the victim.
"He did receive an injury from some sort of edged-weapon to his neck area," Sedore said.
It is not immediately clear where the altercation took place.
Sedore said anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact investigators at 416-808-2300 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-8477.
