Man pulled knife from backpack after being asked to leave Bloor-Yonge station, TTC says
A man has been sent to jail for 87 days for brandishing a knife at a Toronto subway operator.
On Dec. 29, a man was smoking a cigarette and drinking alcohol on a platform at Bloor-Yonge and a TTC operator asked him to leave, the TTC says.
The man pulled a knife from his backpack and was arrested while he was leaving the station.
A 23-year-old man pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon.
The TTC says that, on average, one of its employees is assaulted every day, ranging from punching, slapping and spitting, to threats of physical harm or death.
