Student stabbed at Mississauga high school

A Mississauga high school student has been taken to hospital after he was stabbed on school property Wednesday morning.

Several schools in the area now in hold and secure

Peel Police placed several area schools in a "hold and secure" pattern following the stabbing.

A Mississauga high school student has been taken to hospital after he was stabbed on school property Wednesday morning.

Peel Regional Police say the incident happened shortly after 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Secondary School on Bristol Road, near Hurontario Street. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Several schools in the area are now in hold and secure, including San Lorenzo Ruiz Catholic Elementary School, Barondale Public School, Bristol Road Middle School, Nahani Way Public School, Cooksville Creek Public School and Fairwind Sr. Public School.

St. Jude Separate School and Brilliant Minds Montessori are also in hold and secure.

Police say a male suspect wearing a black sweater and red polo shirt fled the area.
