TTC subway service resumes on Line 2

Commuters on the Bloor-Danforth subway line (Line 2) in the city's east end had a terrible commute this morning after an electrical fire closed Main Street station.

Passengers frustrated after electrical fire shut down service at Main Street station for two hours

Regular subway service has resumed on the Bloor-Danforth line (Line 2) after an electrical fire at Main Street station halted service on a section of the line for two hours during the morning commute.

Just after 6:30 a.m., TTC emergency crews responded to reports of a burning smell at Main Street station. Crews found an electrical fire in a utility room at track level at the station.

As a result, Main Street station was closed and there were no trains running between Donlands and Victoria Park stations. The TTC dispatched shuttle buses to move passengers along the line during the closure.

The subway delays caused some to vent on Twitter, many were hoping it was some sort of cruel April Fool's joke.

Others posted photos as platforms filled with passengers trying to board crowded shuttle buses.

Just before 8:30 a.m. the TTC announced that the delay had cleared but said passengers should expect delays.
