Toronto police were investigating the second homicide in as many days after a man was shot to death Wednesday outside a building in the city's North York area.

Homicide investigators were called to Driftwood Avenue, north of the Jane Streetand Finch Avenue intersection,at 7 p.m. for unknown trouble.

The man's body was discovered on a slope behind a community centre, police said.

Police said the man, who isbelieved to be in his 20s, had been shot several times in the chest and was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released.

One day earlier, a man was discovered outside a Rexdale apartment buildingon Boxing Day eveningafter he wasstabbedduring a confrontation, police said. He died later in hospital.

The recent spate of violence brings the number of homicides in the city this year to 69. There were 78 homicides in 2005.
