Homicide detectives in Toronto are investigating two fatal shootings Saturday night.

In the first incident, a man was shot and killed at an apartment building on Mabelle Avenue, near Dundas Street West and Islington Avenue, at about 9:30 p.m.

Another man was shot on Bleecker Street, near Sherbourne Street and Wellesley Street East, about an hour later.

In the first shooting, police say the victim was found in a stairwell in the apartment building. He had been shot but police have not revealed how many times or how long he had been in the stairwell before being discovered.

The victim, who was in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second shooting was at 375 Bleecker Street in the downtown St. James Town neighbourhood.

When they arrived, police found a man in his 30s with a gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital but died a short time later.

Police have not released the identity of either victim or given any motives.

The deaths mark the 35th and 36th homicides in Toronto this year.
