Police identify 1 of 2 killed in fatal reserve fire

Provincial police have identified one of two people killed in a fire on a First Nation south of Brantford, Ont.

Provincial police have identified one of two people killed in a fire on a First Nation south of Brantford, Ont.

Police say one of the bodies found in a burned-out home on Jan. 22 was that of 48-year-old Elaine LaForme.

They say the second victim was a man and DNA tests are underway to identify him.

A 60-year-old Ohsweken, Ont., man has been arrested in connection with the fire on the New Credit First Nation.

The accused is charged with two counts of first-degree murder.

Police and the Ontario fire marshal are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire.
