A passenger plane experiencing mechanical problems mid-air has successfully made an emergency landing at Toronto's Pearson International Airport.

The plane, reportedly an Air Canada Jazz flight and a DASH-8 model, touched down just before 8 a.m. Tuesday. Emergency vehicles and personnel were on hand as a precautionary measure.

The plane had communicated it was having difficulty with its hydraulic system before it landed smoothly on the runway.

There has been no word yet on how many people were on board or where the flight was coming from.

There were no injuries when the plane landed, and the Greater Toronto Airports Authority told The Canadian Press that emergency measures were deployed after the flight crew reported the problem.
