A small portion of the exterior underside of a prominent University Avenue building fell to the ground on Wednesday morning.

The building at 700 University Ave. is home to the head office of Ontario Power Generation, though it has other tenants.

Police say that no injuries have been reported at the building, which is located near Queen’s Park on the southwest corner of University Avenue and College Street.

It is not immediately clear what caused the collapse.

An OPG spokesperson told CBC News that someone had noticed a problem in that part of the building two days ago, at which time the area was cordoned off.

The sidewalk alongside the building is currently closed and police are on site to ensure that no one approaches the affected area.

Police told CBC News the building has not been evacuated.
