Toronto police have located a woman and two boys that had been missing since Christmas Eve.

The trio, who police say were newcomers to Canada, had last been seen in the Queen Street East and Parliament Street area.

Det.-Const. Alex Wallace told CBC News the family had been staying at a facility that supports refugees. They were reported missing by a staff member at the facility on Tuesday, Jan. 8, he said.

Wallace told CBC News on Thursday that police had been receiving support from the community and were hopeful they were close to finding the family.

Police say they are thankful to the public for their assistance.
