Nelson Mandela Park Public School reopens after 2 years
The city's oldest school, Nelson Mandela Park Public School, reopened today after a two-year renovation that cost $28 million.
The school, which was built in 1915 and later renamed after the anti-apartheid crusader and former South African president, was plagued with cost overruns. It eventually went about $7 million overbudget. Even so, students at the Regent Park school say it's a proud day for them to see their building revitalized after two years.
