Man dies after 9,000 pound rock pile topples over at warehouse

One man is dead after being crushed by a 9,000 pound pile of stones at a warehouse in north Toronto on Thursday night, Toronto fire said.

One man is dead after being crushed by a 9,000 pound pile of stones at a warehouse in north Toronto on Thursday night, Toronto fire said. 

Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene at 485 Norfinch Drive, near Steeles Avenue and Jane Street, earlier this evening after receiving a call for an industrial accident. 

A fire official said the man was killed after he tried to tie chains around the rock pile and it fell over onto him. 

The unidentified male was pronounced dead on scene and the Ministry of Labour is now investigating.
