A male victim has been rushed to a local trauma centre in serious condition following a stabbing near Scarborough Town Centre.

Toronto paramedics were called to 230 Town Centre Court at 8 p.m. Saturday evening about reports of a stabbing. Police are investigating near the mall's fitness centre but it's unknown where exactly the stabbing took place, Const. Craig Brister told CBC News.

There is no word on the victim's age at this time.

Saturday evening's stabbing follows another in the area just one night earlier that left a young teenage boy dead. Family members identified the victim as 15-year-old Kareem Deerr.

Friends and family of Deerr planned to hold a memorial in his honour at the shopping centre at 7 p.m. Saturday.

Police say it's too soon to know if Saturday's stabbing has any connection to the memorial.
