Male pedestrian dead after being struck by vehicle in Brampton
Collision happened at Hurontario Street and Steeles Avenue, police say
A male pedestrian is dead after he was struck by a vehicle in Brampton on Tuesday night, Peel police say.
Police say the collision happened at Hurontario Street and Steeles Avenue. Officers were called to the intersection at about 9:40 p.m.
Passersby tried to help the victim before paramedics arrived, according to Duty Insp. Stephen Duivesteyn.
Paramedics rushed the pedestrian to a trauma centre, where he was pronounced dead, Duivesteyn said.
He could not provide the victim's exact age.
Duivesteyn asked anyone who witnessed the collision or who might have dash-cam or surveillance footage of the incident to contact police.
Police closed Steeles between Hurontario and Lancashire Lane as officers from the force's major collision bureau and forensic identification services investigated.
