Lamborghini driver facing 8 charges in fatal Richmond Hill crash

A 39-year-old King City man faces eight charges, including one of manslaughter, for his role in a multi-vehicle car crash that killed a 32-year-old woman and left two people with serious injuries, York police said Wednesday.

A 39-year-old King City man faces eight charges, including one of manslaughter, for his role in a multi-vehicle car crash that killed a 32-year-old woman and left two other people in hospital, York police said Wednesday. 

Five vehicles were involved in the fiery collision on a two-lane stretch of Stouffville Road, between Bayview Avenue and Leslie Street, in Richmond Hill on the evening of April 1. 

The man charged by police was driving a 2017 blue Lamborghini sports car. The Newmarket woman who was killed in the crash, Katarzyna Tucholska, was a passenger in the same vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Two other people, a 44-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman, both travelling in a Toyota sedan, were rushed to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. Both have made recoveries and are in stable condition, York Regional Police said in a news release. 

At the time, a man who was behind the wheel of one of the cars involved told CBC Toronto that the driver of the Lamborghini was heading into oncoming traffic just moments before the initial collision. 

York police's major collision investigation has charged the Lamborghini driver with eight offences:

  • Manslaughter.
  • Criminal negligence causing death. 
  • Two counts of criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death.
  • Two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
