A 27-year-old Toronto man is facing a murder charge after his mother was fatally stabbed at a home in the city's Lawrence Park neighbourhood.

A 27-year-old Toronto man is facing a murder charge after his mother was fatally stabbed at a home in the city's Lawrence Park neighbourhood.

Janet Williams, 60, was found by police at an address on Ronan Avenue shortly after they responded to a call at 3:19 p.m., said police. She was suffering from apparent stab wounds and rushed to hospital, where she died a short time later.

Neil Williams, 27, was taken into custody at the scene and charged with second-degree murder.

He appeared in court in Toronto Tuesday afternoon.
