Three people were sent to a Toronto hospital for smoke inhalation after a fire broke out in an apartment at a high-rise building on Don Mills Road near Overlea Boulevard.

Twenty fire trucks and a team of paramedics were dispatched to the two-alarm blaze at the 20th-floor apartment, which was first reported at around 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Crews battled the blaze, and it was considered under control just after 3 p.m. Traffic in the area was snarled for a couple of hours as roads were blocked off.

Tenants would be allowed into the building after firefighters cleared the smoke from the building, the fire department said.
