Attempted robbery on GO train causes delay after suspect escapes
Police say man pulled emergency stop, pried open doors near Birchmount and Danforth

Toronto police are searching for a man who allegedly tried to steal a woman's purse on a GO train without success before activating an emergency stop in order to escape.
Authorities say the attempted robbery happened Tuesday at around 11 p.m. on the Lakeshore East GO train line. Police say the suspect pulled the brake to stop the train, then pried open the doors and fled on foot.
Investigators say the man hopped off near Birchmount Road and Raleigh Avenue, which is just north of Danforth Avenue in Toronto's east end.

Service resumed just after midnight.
