Furniture store fire considered suspicious, police say

The Ontario Fire Marshal is now investigating a suspicious fire at a furniture store late last night.

The Ontario Fire Marshal is now investigating a suspicious fire at a furniture store late last night.

Emergency crews were called to Friends Furniture at 5050 Steeles Ave. W.  just after 11:30 p.m. for a fire that had broken out in the store.

Toronto Fire quickly worked to extinguish the flames. No one was in the building at the time and there were no injuries.

Police say the fire has been deemed suspicious and they were holding the scene overnight for the fire marshal's investigation today.

The amount of damage done to the building was not yet known Monday morning.
