Ford to appear in 'Thomas the Tank Engine' play

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford may not be a fan of the gravy train, but that won't stop him from appearing in a theatrical production featuring famed locomotive Thomas the Tank Engine.

Toronto Mayor Rob Ford may not be a fan of the gravy train, but that won't stop him from appearing in a theatrical production featuring famed locomotive Thomas the Tank Engine.

Ford will make a cameo appearance Friday in the matinee production of Thomas Saves the Day at the Sony Centre For The Performing Arts.

"Sir Topham Hatt will welcome Ford to the Island of Sodor as they prepare for the Magic Lantern Festival," according to the production's publicist.

It will be Ford's theatrical debut, the publicist said.

Ford rode into office last fall on a promise to end to largesse at city hall, and "putting an end to the gravy train" became a signature catch phrase.
