The fire sent flames through the roof of the three-storey home at 11 Aberdeen Ave., near Parliament and Carlton streets.
Firefighters were called to the house just before 5 a.m.
Toronto Fire Services said the blaze began in the basement and spread up the walls and into the roof.
One person was taken to hospital with burns to their hand. Parliament Street was closed both ways from Winchester to Gerrard while fire crews fought the blaze in -20 C weather.
