Fatal fire near Yonge and St. Clair investigated

The Ontario Fire Marshal's office is investigating the scene of a fatal fire in midtown Toronto. 

The blaze occurred at an apartment at 7 Jackes Ave. in the Yonge Street and St. Clair Avenue area around midday Monday.

The body of a man was found in a 12th-floor apartment at around 1:15 p.m., police told CBC News. A concerned resident called, saying she smelled smoke.

By the time authorities found the body, the fire was out, police said.

An autopsy has been ordered.
