Highway 404 head-on crash kills 3 people travelling in same car

Ontario Provincial Police say three people were killed when a southbound car crossed the ditch of Highway 404 and slammed into their vehicle as it headed north on the busy highway.

Three people, travelling north together on Highway 404, were killed when a southbound car crossed the ditch and slammed into their vehicle Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the bodies of all three victims remained inside the wreckage of their car while the coroner investigated.

The driver of the southbound car, who was conscious after the crash, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt said two men and one woman were killed in the crash and their families have been notified. Their identities have not been released at this time.

Police haven't said what might have caused the devastating collision.

Highway 404 reopened in the area around 10 p.m.
