Drake's Apple jacket at WWDC 2015 causes commotion
Toronto rapper helps launch music service, makes fashion statement
Technology took centre stage, but Toronto rapper Drake managed to thrust fashion into the spotlight by wearing a rare Apple varsity jacket at the California company's marquee tech event on Monday.
Drake was on hand at WWDC 2015 to launch Apple Music, a new music streaming service and app. However when he walked out on the stage, the audience's attention immediately turned to the jacket.
"I bought this vintage Apple employee's jacket using this tool called the internet," he said at the conference, held yearly in San Francisco.
The dark varsity jacket has a colourful Apple logo on the chest and brown leather sleeves.
On social media, users tracked down the jacket to an ebay posting that lists the sale price as $825 USD. The jacket was likely given to an employee from the period of the early 1980s to 1998, when the company stopped using the colourful logo.
Men's fashion magazine GQ wrote that Drake "looked like a king" in the jacket.
Others were less enthused, calling the rapper's fashion choice ridiculous.
