Hardeep Singh Pahra identified as cyclist killed Thursday in Brampton
Peel Regional Police have now released the name of the 30-year-old cyclist struck and killed by a vehicle in Brampton Thursday morning.
Hardeep Singh Pahra was riding his bike to work just before 6 a.m. when he was hit on Steeles Avenue between Finch Avenue and Albion Road.
Police say Pahra was the father of two young children and had recently immigrated to Canada.
Investigators are still looking for the vehicle that hit Pahra. It left the scene, but police can't yet confirm whether or not the driver knew that they struck the 30-year-old.
"It's possible because of the lighting conditions ... that the individual responsible for this may not of realized what happened, particularly because this area has a large amount of commercial traffic," said Const. Lilly Fitzpatrick at the scene Thursday morning.
Investigators are asking anyone who was driving east or westbound on Steeles Avenue around 6 a.m. to give them a call at 905-453-3311 ext. 4027.
