The BFUTR Summit is expected to attract 10,000 virtual attendees this October

CBC Toronto is a proud sponsor of the Black Professionals in Tech Network (BPTN)'s global tech summit, BFUTR 2020. The event will take place virtually on October 22 and 23, 2020.

Founded in 2018, BPTN was created as a way to build community and connect Black professionals with tech organizations seeking diverse talent. The network now includes more than 10,000 members across Canada and the United States. The inaugural BFUTR Summit took place in Toronto in 2019. With more than 1,200 attendees and more than 30 speakers, it was the largest gathering of Black tech professionals in Canada.

Though the pandemic means an in-person gathering won't take place this year, the 2020 BFUTR summit will be delivered virtually in 3D, featuring more than 100 speakers in tech and business and an estimated 10,000 attendees.

Summit attendees will have the opportunity to hear from tech and business leaders, participate in personalized job interviews with HR representatives from companies looking to hire, network with professionals from around the world and more.

Dr. Claudette Knight

Dr. Claudette Knight (Submitted by BPTN)

Claudette is CIBC's Vice President of Talent Development. She has over twenty years of experience in the Financial Services Industry and is passionate about empowering financial, social, physical, and emotional wellbeing in others.

She has a doctorate in the field of Business Administration with a focus on gender and leadership; and keeps current with transformational leadership research. Claudette is HR's Executive Sponsor for the CIBC Run for the Cure, CIBC's Black Employee Network, as well as an HR Advisor to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Toronto.

Sabry Tozin

Sabry Tozin (Submitted by BPTN)

Sabry Tozin is  the Vice President of Enterprise Productivity Engineering at LinkedIn. In this capacity, Sabry leads the organization that powers the productivity of LinkedIn employees through innovative, scalable, and secure information technology solutions. Before joining LinkedIn, Sabry held engineering leadership roles at Netflix, and IGN Entertainment. He's a seasoned technology leader with over 20 years of experience in Silicon Valley.

Nkechi Nwafor-Robinson

Nkechi Nwafor-Robinson (Submitted by BPTN)

Nkechi is an experienced Information Technology professional with more than 20 years in the IT space. In her current role as Associate Vice President, Technology at TD Bank Group, she leads all infrastructure delivery needs for the Channels Technology Solutions (CTS) segment portfolio. Nkechi is an entrepreneur, author, professional bodybuilder, podcast host and inspirational speaker, whose "You Matter" speech went viral on several motivational platforms, most recently on Goalcast, with over 5M views, and shared over 10,000 times, worldwide.

An advocate for helping others, she is founder and CEO of Empowered in My Skin (EIMS)Inc., a grassroot organization that is focused on Personal Brand development, helping people maximize their true potential and become leaders in every aspect of their lives.

Reggie Marable

Reggie Marable (Submitted by BPTN)

Based in Atlanta, Georgia Reggie is the Area Vice President for Enterprise Corporate Sales at Salesforce. He has nationwide responsibility for an enterprise sales organization tasked with generating growth in Salesforce's largest global accounts in North America. He is also the author of 'The Blue Print – The Keys to making BIG Money in Professional Sales'.
