A 12-year-old boy is dead after a fall from a balcony in midtown Toronto on Friday evening, police say.

Paramedics say boy was without vital signs when transported to hospital

A 12-year-old boy is dead after a fall from a balcony in midtown Toronto on Friday evening, police say.

The boy fell at about 7:40 p.m. from a residence near Mount Pleasant Road and Balliol Street, south of Davisville Avenue. Emergency crews were called to the scene for a medical call.

Toronto paramedics rushed the boy to hospital in life-threatening condition. 

The boy was without vital signs when transported, according to Dave Viljakainen, deputy commander for Toronto Paramedic Services.

Staff Sgt. Doodnath Churkoo, spokesperson for Toronto Police Service's 53 Division, said officers have located the parents.

Police have not said from which floor the boy fell.
