Body recovered in Brantford house explosion
Blast felt blocks away, mayor says
A body has been found in a Brantford, Ont., home one day after an explosion destroyed the building.
However, officials couldn't confirm if the body was that of Nancy Grasso who has been missing since the accident.
Grasso has been missing since the explosion ripped through the house at 55 Ruffian Road, about 100 kilometres southwest of Toronto, at around 2:30 pm Thursday.
The blast damaged at least 30 other houses in the neighbourhood.
"The impact of the explosion was felt three blocks away," said mayor Chris Friel.
"You have houses that are six to seven houses down that have their soffit and fascia ripped off and front doors."
Friel said crews would begin searching the destroyed home on Friday.
The cause of the blast has not been determined. The Ontario Fire Marshal is investigating.
