2 charged, 2 suspects outstanding, 3 firearms seized after east end shooting
Police say 1 driver approached another at Kingston Road and Woodbine Avenue, then shooting began
Two men have been charged with attempted murder, two suspects are still outstanding and three firearms have been seized after a double shooting in the Beach Triangle on the weekend, Toronto police say.
The daylight shooting left two men injured.
In a news release late Monday, police said they were called to Woodbine Avenue and Kingston Road around 2:30 p.m. on Sunday for reports of gunfire.
Police said an Audi, travelling westbound on Kingston at Woodbine, was stopped at a red light when it was approached from behind by a black Mercedes.
The Mercedes came to a stop behind the Audi, a man got out of the Mercedes and went to the passenger side of the Audi with a firearm in his hand. He began to shooting inside the Audi, hitting two people
The man then ran southbound into a residential area east of Woodbine and south of Kingston.
Police said the driver of the Audi drove southbound on Woodbine to Queen Street East. He came to a stop in front of a business on Queen west of Woodbine.
The driver who remained in the Mercedes sped off southbound on Woodbine and collided with another vehicle on Queen east of Woodbine. Four males ran from the Mercedes.
Paramedics took the two people in the Audi who had been wounded to hospital, where they were treated for their injuries. They are both expected to survive.
The two victims, who police believe to be in their 20s, were conscious and breathing when officers found them, police said. One had several bullet wounds throughout his body, she added, while the other sustained lower body injuries.
Officers located two men, allegedly armed with guns, who fled from the Mercedes. They were apprehended minutes after getting out of the vehicle, police spokesperson Katrina Arrogante said on Sunday.
Several shell casings were also found.
2 Toronto men, aged 20 and 21, appeared in court
One man, 20, is facing three charges including unauthorized possession of a firearm and failure to comply with probation.
Another man, 21, faces two charges including unauthorized possession of a firearm. Both men are from Toronto.
They both appeared in court on Monday. A second court date has been set for the 20-year-old man for Jan. 14. The 21-year-old will be back in court on Jan. 10. The two men will appear via video link.
