Signs with three-letter codes will begin appearing on Ontario highways in the run-up to the Pan Am/Parapan Games.

The signs are a part of the Games Route Network. Ontario transportation minister Steven Del Duca unveiled the signs on Tuesday.

He said 5,000 orange and blue games signs with three letters will be posted in 16 municipalities to help direct spectators to venues.

New markings on provincial highways will mark temporary high occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes that can only be used by vehicles with three or more occupants.

Both the signs for the venues and the HOV lanes start on Monday and last through July 27.
