Nipigon house fire leaves 2 people dead
Identities of homeowners killed being withheld by police as investigation continues
Two people died early Sunday morning in a house fire in Nipigon, a small community 114 kilometres northeast of Thunder Bay.
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have identified the victims as the homeowners, but their names are being withheld until next of kin can be notified.
Nipigon firefighters at the scene were able to extinguish the fire before it spread to other properties. The house endured substantial damage due to smoke and flames.
As of late Monday afternoon, the OPP were at the scene with the Office of the Fire Marshal conducting an investigation into what happened.
