Water levels are expected to rise "because of issues with dam operability at the Upper Sturgeon River dam due to the cold conditions," the ministry stated in a release.

It adds West Nipissing Power has requested that Ontario Power Generation reduce flow at their Crystal Falls Generating Station and other stations to allow their workers to make repairs.in a lower water condition at the Upper Sturgeon River Dam.

West Nipissing police say the ice is unsafe along the river and the public should avoid it.
