Human remains discovered in Cochrane area fire

Provincial police say a postmortem is scheduled to take place Friday, after human remains were found in fire debris this week.

Provincial police say a postmortem is scheduled to take place Friday, after human remains were found in fire debris this week.

On Monday, crews were called to a fire at a home on Francis Road in Brower Township, east of Cochrane.

OPP said on Wednesday, human remains were discovered in the debris.

Police said the identity of the remains and the cause of death are not known at this time.

An investigation by the Office of the Fire Marshal, assisted by the OPP Forensic Identification Unit, is underway to determine the cause of the fire.

OPP ask anyone with information to contact them or Crime Stoppers.
