Snow in July in Alberta

It may be July, but there's snow in central Alberta. People had to deal with winter driving conditions as blowing snow reduced visibility on two highways Thursday morning.

This morning's snowfall came after weeks of heavy rain and the combination has been causing problems from south-east of Red Deer to the Rocky Mountain foothills.

Secondary highways were closed and in some areas there was minor flooding.

Farmers are worried about damage to their canola and wheat crops. In some fields the snow was 2-1/2 centimetres deep.
