Students compose song about buddy bench

Elementary students in Saskatoon have composed a song called Buddy Bench about a popular playground spot. 

When you don't have anyone to play with at recess, students sit on a buddy bench. Within a few minutes, any student sitting on the bench will be approached by a fellow student and asked to play. 

"Buddy bench: It's here to make everyone happy," reads the first line of the chorus. 

The song was composed by teacher Gareth Bond alongside Grade 3 and 4 students at Westmount Community School and Howard Coad School. 

"If you don't have a friend and don't know what to do, just sit on this bench and you'll find a new friend or two," the song goes.

Westmount Community School now has two buddy benches installed on the playground.

Earlier this year, CBC Saskatoon visited students using a buddy bench at Willowgrove School.
