Van collides with apartment building in Saskatoon's College Park
Van's driver runs away from collision scene; arrested at Centre Mall

A 20-year-old man is in police custody and set to face charges, after an early morning collision in Saskatoon's College Park area.
Witnesses say a Dodge Caravan blew through a four-way stop and smashed into an apartment building.
The collision left part of the van's front end crushed and stuck inside the building. It happened at around 7 a.m. CST at the intersection of 14th Street E. and Acadia Drive.
The driver of the van tried running away from the scene after the crash, according to police and witnesses.
Michael Fournier said he saw the collision, and then saw the driver running away from the scene.

"I had to follow him all the way down to the mall, six blocks or seven blocks away. We finally trapped him in the mall. It was definitely an adventure, for sure," Fournier said.
In a news release, Saskatoon police said the man was taken into custody by security officers at Centre Mall.
Mick Ellis also saw the crash.

"Everyone was stopped ... and that van came right through. And a cloud of dust — cause there's a lot of gravel here — right through at full speed." Ellis said. "He did not hit the brakes, and right into the building with a real explosive sound."
Police and emergency crews are on scene investigating the crash. They say speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors.
There's no word yet on injuries. Nobody was living in the apartment suite that the van hit.
