9-year-old girl expected to recover after near-drowning at Saskatoon pool

Staff at the Lawson Civic Centre were sent scrambling Tuesday after a young girl was found unconscious in the water.

A nine-year-old girl on a field trip with Brunskill School in Saskatoon was taken out of the water by lifeguards who performed CPR.

The girl regained consciousness and was taken to hospital.

Ambulance officials tell us the girl is expected to be OK.

The City of Saskatoon said staff at the civic centre will receive a critical incident debriefing.

In a letter home to parents, the principal of Brunskill School wrote the school will support students who were at the pool.

Parents were asked to talk openly with their children about their feelings and fears.
