Saskatoon cop given conditional discharge after pleading guilty to sexual assault
Professional future of Const. Robert Brown still uncertain
A veteran Saskatoon police officer who pleaded guilty to sexual assault has been a given a conditional discharge.
Const. Robert Brown has also been placed on probation for a year and ordered to do 75 hours of community service.
The 16-year police veteran appeared in Saskatoon provincial court on Monday.
The charge stemmed from an off-duty incident on Remembrance Day in 2017 at the Sergeant Hugh Cairns VC Armoury in Saskatoon, according to the Saskatoon Police Service and the Department of National Defence.
The victim was a civilian who attended the event, according to the department.
Brown's professional future with the police service remains unclear.
He is now the subject of an administrative review and will remain suspended with pay until that concludes.
