Saskatoon committee wants more room for Rover
Group wants to see more off leash dog parks in the city
An advisory committee at city hall in Saskatoon will table a comprehensive report today that reviews the city’s overall approach to animal control.
They would like to see us expand the off leash recreation area concept- Zach Jeffries
At the heart of that report, are dogs.
Ward 10 councillor Zach Jeffries is part of the committee. Jeffries said dog owners like the off leash parks in the city, and want more.
"They would like to see us expand the off leash recreation area concept to not only large swaths of land at the edge of the city but including smaller more local neighbourhood off leash parks."
The pet licensing program helps pay for the off leash parks.
Jeffries said that unfortunately, not enough money is coming in.
Part of the Animal Advisory Committee’s report suggests city hall should consider new ways of marketing the licensing program, to convince pet owners to license their animals.
