A city committee on the environment is getting a special report next week.

It concerns options for recycling organic household waste.

What to do with all those potato peels, tree leaves, apple cores and carrot shavings?

  • Option one: A program that allows people to volunteer for year-round collection of food and yard waste with monthly fees that could range from $13 to $25.
  • Option two: A comprehensive program where everyone gets a small cart for year-round collection of food waste. People may also volunteer for seasonal yard waste collection, for about $10 per month.
  • Option three: A comprehensive program where everyone gets a cart for year-round collection of food and yard for $12 per month.\

This review will include public consultations. Recommendations will go council in the New Year.
