Pledge to vote in the election and challenge your friends to do the same

The CBC has rolled out a new way for you to give your voice in the election and to get others involved.

Pledge To Vote is an election engagement project and interactive mapping tool

Leisha Grebinski host of Saskatoon Morning on 94.1 FM took the pledge this morning.

The CBC has rolled out a new way for you to give your voice in the election and to get others involved.

Pledge to Vote is a new tool from CBC News.

The big, interactive map allows Canadians to tell people why they're voting and what their priorities are.

Brodie Fenlon, Managing Editor of cbcnews.ca, spoke to Saskatoon Morning's Leisha Grebinski about the campaign this morning.

"The more important part, and hopefully the fun part, is that it allows you to challenge your friends and followers on social media to join you in the pledge and join you in the commitment to vote on October 19th," said Brodie Fenlon, managing editor of cbcnews.ca.

Fenlon hopes the website will increase the number of voters in the next election.

"There's this cohort of Canadians that take voting very seriously," said Fenlon. "I've watched them take to social media, usually on voting day, to say, 'I'm voting today.'...We wanted to provide a space for those people who care a lot about the democratic process to extend it over a longer period of time."

A similar map was used last year in India, and three million people took part.
